Jimmy Langley So sorry to hear this sad news, our thoughts are with his family.
We have such fond memories of Jimmy.
Such an enthusiastic player manager who joined Boro in the twilight of his career.
In the same mould as Stewart Pearce, played in the same position 100% effort and commitment and led by example.
This seemed to rub off on the rest of the team especially in making it to the Trophy Final beating Wigan and Hereford on the way.
In the same period reaching the third round of the FA Cup beating Wimbledon and Luton Town on route.
He later had a second spell as manager.
Thanks for the wonderful memories Jimmy.

I started supporting Boro during their FA Cup run in 1969-70, with Jimmy Langley as player-manager.
They were magic days.
Before then I had no interest in football.

I went along to the 'wake' after the ceremony last Friday. Considering I hadn't watched 'the borough' for over 30 years I had no idea whether I would recognise or know anyone there. I used to watch at Falling Lane from sometime in the 60's (my granddad used to take me in the push chair) until the late 70's when I lost interest. Many highlights and lows of course, some of the highs included painting anything that didn't move with blue paint at the stadium, selling programmes and going to most away matches for many seasons.
Not too many people there when I arrived, to my amazement someone recongnised me and even knew my name, to my shame I didn't know, or remember him. I spoke to a couple of players who I remembered, the legendary Eddie Reeves (he hadn't changed too much apart from being a little older), Mick McGovern and Peter Gelson. Unfortunately it seems that June, (Mrs Langley) isn't that well and in hospital. The 2 sons looked well.
I am really glad I attened and after chatting for a hour or so many things I had forgotten about came back - I guess that as its been nearly 35 years time has got the better of my memory but Eddie seemed to remember more than I did about those days as well as the group of us you used to regularly make the away matches, I wonder what happend to them all.
RIP Jim.
